The Economic Opportunity and Development Division is committed to building an inclusive and sustainable economy in the City of Cambridge. The Division is responsible for a wide range of activities designed to meet the City's need for a vibrant, innovative, diverse, and thriving economic base that ensures economic opportunity for all. The Division works at all levels of our economy to: support small and micro-businesses to grow; promote and strengthen our commercial districts; develop economic development programs and policies to support and empower Cambridge’s residents, workforce, and businesses; retain and partner with key industries that drive innovation, job growth, and global competitiveness; and connect residents and businesses to economic resources and information.

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission is a regional planning agency serving 40 communities in Central Massachusetts. It provides transportation planning, GIS services, and regional collaboration and community planning.

MRPC provides technical planning assistance to 22 member communities in the Montachusett Region of greater north central Massachusetts, offering comprehensive planning, GIS data analysis, grant writing and administration, and transit/transportation planning services.

MassDevelopment provides financing, real estate, and community development solutions to grow businesses, create opportunity, and energize cities and towns across Massachusetts. It aims to revitalize communities, expand housing, and create jobs.

MassEcon is a private, non-profit partnership of business, industry leaders, and government dedicated to the economic growth of Massachusetts. MassEcon's mission is to promote and champion Massachusetts as the best place to start, grow and locate a business.
