The Brownwood Municipal Development District is a non-profit organization that promotes, assists, stimulates, and enhances economic development in Brownwood. It is the mission of the BMDD to aid the City of Brownwood and interested private or public entities to make the community a better place to live, work and do business, enhancing the lives of our residents. It may help develop and finance any permissible project that benefits, strengthens, and diversifies the economic base of Brownwood as defined in Chapter 377 of the Texas Local Government Code.

The Orange County Economic Development Corporation was formed in 2003 to better serve the economic development needs of Orange County. It develops and supports policies and programs aimed at improving the business climate by creating and retaining jobs and providing a stable tax base throughout Orange County.
