The Roma Economic Development Corporation was created by the voters in 1995 to enhance the quality of life in Roma by advancing the investment, development, growth and relocation of companies within the area. The early role of the Roma EDC was to generate revenue to improve infrastructure throughout the city, including massive overhauls of the water and wastewater sytems, and over the years it has evolved into an important funding source for projects driving economic and community development including land acquisition for the Roma Fire Department and the Roma Transit Station, redevelopment initiatives in the historic district, and multiple park improvements.

COSTEP, the Council for South Texas Economic Progress, is a nonprofit organization established in 1972 to attract and retain investment, support local businesses, and drive competitiveness through public-private partnerships, international collaboration, and government engagement. It encompasses the Rio South Texas Region and promotes cross-border collaboration and regional economic development.

Texas Economic Development Corporation (TxEDC) markets Texas as the premier destination for business and provides information to help businesses explore opportunities in Texas. It supports the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism in promoting Texas as a premier destination for business.
